Why is another toenail growing on my big toe when i already have a perfectly healthy one there?

ok so on my b ig toe i had a perfectly healthy toenai land it was growing out fine the way toenails should. One day i noticed that there was a new toenail underneath growing. Over time it has been pushing the 1st toenail out as it grows. so its like i have two layers of toenail. Its very bizarre. ...any explanations? Why is another toenail growing on my big toe when i already have a perfectly healthy one there?
im sorry but that has got to be one of the stranges things i have ever heard lol. anyways, i would do what the other person said and just let the new nail keep growing and let the old one fall off by itself. wish i could see what that looks like, that is soo weird! Why is another toenail growing on my big toe when i already have a perfectly healthy one there?
Something (like trauma to the toe) caused your toe to ';think'; it needed to grow a new one. If you can do so without causing too much pain, simply remove the top toenail and allow the new one to finish growing in properly. Be sure to clean the area carefully and try to avoid infection. If you have any further problems with it, see your family doctor.

Take care!
You may not remember a specific injury, but it sounds like your new nail will replace the old one. The old nail will eventually come off by itself and you shouldn't have to do anything to it.
i'm not apro at these kind of questions i would suggest you go to a foot doctor they can explain it all to you
