What do I do if my toenail is nearly ripped off?

I accidently hit my big toe today and ripped most off my nail off. There is only the corner of the nail that is still attached. I have a constant throbbing pain now and don't know if to rip the nail off or not??What do I do if my toenail is nearly ripped off?
Get it removed by a doctor, soon u will have newWhat do I do if my toenail is nearly ripped off?
That happened to me recently but to one of my smaller toes. I just wrapped a band aid on the whole thing and waited until it stopped hurting. eventually the nail re-attached itself. I can't say if the same will happen to your big toe, but it might be less painful if you bandage it for a while. When it doesn't hurt so much, you can try cutting the part that came off. Then bandage it again until the nail has grown back. If you think the pain is really too much or if it starts looking like it's infected (pain, change in color, pus) then go see a doctor right away. Make sure to wash your toe %26amp; apply a disinfectant before bandaging.
I'd say either clip it off of rip the rest off if you can handle it. Same thing happened to me except it was a little toe not the big one, it grew back for me but idk if it's the same for the big toe.
i had the same problem, man. What i did was, use a scissor to cut off the broken part and keep the part thats still intact. what im worried about is, what would happen to the still intact piece of my nail when my new nail comes out :O

  • What should i do about a toenail that has partially fallen off?

yesterday i noticed that the nail on my pinky toe was kind of moving, so i left it alone. today i discovered that not only had the nail broken off but the nail on my other foot was doing the same exact thing. there is no sign of fungus and it was not subject to any type of injury. also the base of the nail is still there, just the tip has ripped off. i was wondering if it is possible that if the nail was too long for the toe it could have caught to something, like my sock, and ripped the tip of the nail off? also i'd like some advice on how to take care of it so i can allow the nail to grow again. thank you! What should i do about a toenail that has partially fallen off?
Eat lots of vitamins and it will grow more quickly. What should i do about a toenail that has partially fallen off?
It is very possible it caught on something and broke. Just allow it to grow out, then invest in a 25$ pedicure. It will make your toes sparkle, and make you feel good as well.
Go to a doctor and get checked to see if you have a condition that needs treatment.
Almost certainly it got caught on something and got ripped. It happens. The good news is toenails grow back. I had one ';smashed off'; with someone's heel in a martial arts fight, it took 8 weeks to grow back but it did, they are pretty tough things.

While it's not true that eating vitamins will make it grow quicker, it WILL grow slower if you don't eat properly and therefore get enough vitamins and nutrients.

Im starting to get an ingrown toenail help the pain is awful?

its on my left toe on the right corner it swelling and it starting to get a little red. the pain is awful. how can i get rid of it since it just started last night.Im starting to get an ingrown toenail help the pain is awful?
Soak your toe in warm water ( as hot as you can stand) -with Epsom salt or table salt in it. If possible, have someone cut the nail portion that is digging into your toe bed (just the corner) -before it becomes infected.Im starting to get an ingrown toenail help the pain is awful?
Soak your feet in very salty water. I like to add Epsom Salt. with a little nice smelling soap, you know ...feet. Very carefully trim your toenails as well as you can. Then put some disinfectant on the sore toe. use Hydrogen Peroxide or an antiseptic wash. Good luck.

Does anyone know how to treat toenail fungus with something other than prescription meds?

Ive tried Vicks vapor rub too greasy and you have to use it every day that rolls for the rest of your life. I need something that will get rid of it. Without having to go to doctor.Does anyone know how to treat toenail fungus with something other than prescription meds?
try Listerine it works! all you have to do is put it on the toenail twice a day and it does work. I read about it in the paper.Does anyone know how to treat toenail fungus with something other than prescription meds?
Haven't you heard of Tea Tree Oil? If not, pl. read up on it and try to get the same and use it. Locally.
Try using Vicks vaporub. I work for P%26amp;G and so many people call and say it works on toenail fungus, but if you call us we can not say to use it for that since we have not tested it in this manner.
my mom does nails for a living and she has this fungus liquid thing for your nails and u can get it at the beauty supply stores. it works wheneve she has cutomers that come in with fungus problems she gives them it!
tried to buy some ergomicon on a drug store.
    see what they say on

Only oral medicine will completely eliminate the problem, but for now try to wear shoes that dont make your feet sweat constantly, change sox often, and use antifungal creams or sprays...

Is toenail fungus really such a health issue?

In all honesty, I don't think I ever noticed people's toenails until Lamisil started their nauseating campaign of fungus ads.Is toenail fungus really such a health issue?
It is not a serious problem, but it is a cosmetic problem more. If the infection is serious you can loose your nails although they do grow back but with the infection it is a dangerous circleIs toenail fungus really such a health issue?
It is harmful, because it involves a foreign pathogen invading your body. It makes sense to go ahead and treat it as soon as possible.
idk. toenail fungus is disgusting. but it isn't a health issue. it doesn't make people sick or anything. just gross to see that's all. i should know cuz i work in a nursing home.

I think I have a ingrown toenail. Is there anything I can do without going to a doctor?

A few months ago, I have to get my toenail removed. Now it is almost fully grown back, but I think I have an ingrown toenail now. When I got it removed before, I had to get novacaine (sorry, this is probably spelled wrong) of course, but needles scare me horrible and it was very painful. I'd really love to be able to avoid that. So is there anyway I can take care of the problem without having to see a doctor?I think I have a ingrown toenail. Is there anything I can do without going to a doctor?
Ooh, I've had an ingrown toenail b4. The only things you can try to do is soak your foot in hot salt water or take something pointy and lift up your toenail with it so the ingrown part is above your skin. These things are not guarenteed to work, but I tried them, and the lifting up your toenail thing worked for me.I think I have a ingrown toenail. Is there anything I can do without going to a doctor?
Without getting too gross, I had an ingrown toenail and I pulled it out myself. It hurt at first but I felt tremendous pain relief just a short while later. On the other hand, my sister had chronic ingrown toenails and always had to get her toenails removed. Now, as long as she keeps her toenails short, she doesn't have a problem.
I don't remember the name, but Dr. Scholl's makes an OTC product. All you have to do is put a foam ring around where the ingrown nail is, then fill it with the medicine, wrap and band-aid around it and let it sit. Once it has softened the nail, and can use tweezers or nail clippers to get it out.
you can cure it at home, but the likely hood of it coming back is big. i would go to the doctor and have them remove it because 1- they will do a better job %26amp; 2- it probably won't come back.
If you can not soak it and cut it out yourself you will probably have to see the doctor
try soaking it twice daily in epsom salts, it worked for me, oh and im deathly afraid of needles too.
Try cutting a v shape in the middle of your nail. Then when the nail grows it grows into the v and not to the side x

Long term treatment for my ingrown toenail?

I have a recurring ingrown toenail. The doctor can cut it for 2 weeks of relief, but then it grows into the skin again. The one side of nail is just getting shorter and shorter so I don't know what I could do. It very painful and easily gets infected. My goal is to get it grown out to the edge again, but the skin of the tow won't let it do that easily. Any suggestions?Long term treatment for my ingrown toenail?
I've been watching this is question waiting for someone more knowledgable to respond, but it's been awhile. I would talk to your podiatrist about placing something in between the nail and skin as the nail grows out to create a barrier and lift the nail slightly to keep it from digging into the skin.
